The Red Devils Poised to Sign German Forward Lea Schüller away from Bayern Munich

Manchester United are on the verge of completing the signing for prolific German forward Lea Schüller in a permanent move away from Bayern Munich.

A Marquee Signing for the WSL Side

The forward, with six months remaining on her deal, is known as a consistent goalscorer for both club and country. She has netted over 100 goals for Bayern and scored 54 times in 82 appearances for her country. Her arrival will be seen as a marquee signing for the WSL side.

Her exit from Bayern was expected since she appeared to be holding back emotions while thanking the club's fans following a victory over Bayer Leverkusen recently.

Reports in late December that the German women's top flight was losing one of its leading strikers. Per multiple sources, all the paperwork for the transfer have now been completed.

Consistent Goal Threat to Strengthen the Attack

The experienced striker's signing should represent a significant boost to United’s forward line. She has been highly consistent in front of goal in Germany’s top flight.

• Over seven consecutive seasons, including the last term, she reached at least a double-digit tally of league goals.
• She won the Golden Boot in the 2021-22 season with 16 goals.

Building Momentum at Old Trafford

Securing Schüller’s signature coincides with a period when the club appear to be building momentum.

Their recent on-pitch successes feature securing a place in the Champions League knockout phase playoffs in a seeded position and a win in the Conti Cup quarter-finals.

In the transfer market, the mid-season window has seen additional business:

1. The signing of Swedish right-back Hanna Lundkvist on a multi-year deal.
2. The new deal for Japanese playmaker Hinata Miyazawa, who has become popular figure since joining in 2023.

On the midfielder's extension, a club official stated: “She has become a critical component to the way we play. Her understanding of the game and technical ability enables her and the team to dominate play from central areas.”

Lundkvist, who has joined from a side from the NWSL, added: “You can feel how much they [United] have grown in the last few years, competing in one of the strongest leagues in the world and performing in the Champions League.”
