With a performance full of brave racing, Lando Norris has clinched his maiden F1 world title by taking third place at the season finale in Abu Dhabi. This moment was looked at by the stewards, with several nerve-wracking laps elapsing before a time penalty for his rival and no further action for Norris settled the matter. This bold move unimpeded was crucial to his championship bid.

Contrasting Fates

While Norris became the first British driver to take the title since Lewis Hamilton in 2020, the difference in form between the two was pronounced. While the new generation battled over the title, Hamilton, the grand champion, could only finish eighth place in Abu Dhabi, a dismal ending to a difficult season with Ferrari.

His first season with the Italian team had been greeted with excitement but produced what was comfortably his worst season ever, finishing sixth in the championship without a podium. He has looked jaded in the closing races and will look to rebuild over the off-season.
