Slot Maintains He Is Secure and Has The Club's Support Following PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach conceded that it was expected for questions to be raised about his future following a further heavy defeat against PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds endured their ninth loss in 12 games, representing the team's poorest streak after being relegated in 1953-54.

They were dominated by the Dutch league title holders on a punishing evening at their home ground.

“I'm confident, I am OK, I've received a lot of support from management,” the coach commented.

“It's important to change things and earn three points naturally but if you are working as a coach and not doing well then it is normal that questions are asked.”

He continued, “I'm comfortable with my situation. This isn't the first time I've found myself in a tough spot but it's crucial that we turned it around.”

Discussions with The Board

When asked to provide details on his discussions with the club's leadership, Slot said:

“We communicate frequently. They assist for the squad and to me and those talks happen but they don’t call me constantly each day to say they trust me.”

He mentioned, “In the normal conversations we have I perceive the confidence. But I've not talked to them after this game so far so we'll see.”

Familiar Issues and Squad Response

Slot expressed regret over familiar shortcomings from his team in their Champions League defeat, namely missed opportunities and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was blunter in his evaluation of the team's situation.

“I don’t have the answers. Truthfully, I do not. I’m saying that to everyone,” Jones remarked.

“It is unacceptable. I don’t even have to wait to reflect. I’m past feeling anger internally. I've reached the stage currently where I simply lack the words.”

He went on, “It's tough because I’m playing for the team I support. I support them, and I’ve seen Liverpool all my life.”

“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Reds side going through a phase of this nature with performances this poor.”

He stated, “However we continue to wear the emblem on our shirts. And as long as that badge is taken away, we will always compete.”

“We will attempt to bring this squad back to the top, demonstrate to all again what Liverpool stands for and why it's known as the greatest side in the planet.”

“However currently, we're in trouble and it needs to change.”
