Performer Rejects Anti-Vaccine Views After Narrating Disputed Pandemic Documentary

The acclaimed actor has lent his voice to a feature-length documentary that questions the safety of vaccinations and lauds former health official Robert F Kennedy Jr.

The Documentary's Disputed Basis

Titled "Plague of Corruption," the documentary is based on a well-known publication written by a disgraced researcher, who gained notoriety during the pandemic for assertions that the illness was a result of a bad strain of the influenza shot.

The publication's writing partner, a producer, has penned books with far-right media personality a known commentator. The producer recently posted hailing Neeson's participation in the project.

A Firm Rebuttal

A spokesperson for Liam Neeson have released a response strongly denying claims that he holds anti-vax sentiments.

"Everyone can acknowledge that unethical practices may occur within the medical sector, but that should never be equated to opposition to vaccines," the response states. "Neeson is not, and is not, against vaccines. His long work with the global charity underscores his enduring support for global immunisation initiatives."

It added that the actor was not involved in crafting the documentary's messaging and that inquiries about its content ought to go to the filmmakers.

Key Claims In the Feature

According to the documentary, the voiceover spoken by Neeson features several strong claims:

  • It claims that pro-immunization voices have demanded "blind obedience" to health authorities.
  • It declares that "science has become dangerously influenced by politics."
  • RFK Jr is interviewed stating, "The major issue with vaccines is that they simply are not safely tested."
  • The narration takes aim at pandemic restrictions, arguing they caused psychological harm that cost thousands of lives.
  • On the topic of Covid vaccines, it cites a view that they were "rushed to market" and seen as "hazardous tests."

Past Controversy and Ongoing Debates

It includes a 2004 BBC documentary about clinical trials on children, which was afterwards the subject of a formal apology by the corporation for editorial breaches.

Last month, the political figure instructed the CDC to alter its longstanding position that there is no connection between vaccines and autism. This claim is echoed in the film, contrary to a new report from the World Health Organisation reiterating no such link has been found.

A Past Statement of Endorsement

Differing from the documentary's narrative, Neeson has previously expressed strong support for vaccines in his position as a charity ambassador.

Previously, he called vaccines as "a remarkable triumph," stating that "The debate about vaccines in recent years has lost sight of how much benefit they have done... It is perhaps one of the biggest collective achievements in human history."

The film finishes with Neeson's script saying, "This is not the end of our journey. Rather, it is the beginning of a different phase."
