Outrage as Renowned South African DJ Shot Dead in Johannesburg.

A renowned South African media personality and entertainer has been murdered in the country's largest city Johannesburg, triggering widespread grief across a nation struggling with rampant crime.

Warrick Stock, who went by the name DJ Warras, was gunned down in the downtown area on a Tuesday afternoon.

Police said the forty-year-old presenter was confronted by a trio of assailants, one of whom began shooting at him before running away.

The reason behind the shooting remains unclear and no one has been arrested have taken place, police said.

How It Happened

Police indicated that Stock was attacked as he was departing from a building close to the Carlton Centre.

He had been present for hours at the property supervising the implementation of safety equipment, which had been reportedly taken over by squatters, as per local media.

"Authorities believe the deceased was approached by three unidentified men after he parked his car, and they began shooting at him before fleeing the scene on foot," a police statement stated.

CCTV footage showed a individual with dreadlocks and clad in what resembled a protective services outfit shooting on Stock before fleeing.

The DJ sought to escape after he was hit but fell down on the opposite side of the road.

It was further revealed that Stock had an unused firearm and nothing was taken during the assault.
