Netflix Chooses Perfect Star for Bon Clay in the Hit Series Upcoming Installment

Baroque Works is poised to make a major impact in Netflix’s upcoming season of One Piece, though the real showdown won’t unfold until the next season, and a beloved, audience-beloved member has just been cast.

Netflix announced recently that Cole Escola has joined the One Piece upcoming season’s lineup and will embody Mr. 2. The role possesses the power to change into an identical duplicate of anyone they’ve laid a hand on with their dominant hand. Escola, who is identifies as non-binary and uses they/them pronouns, will play a rendition of that character reinterpreted as gender non-binary, rather than as a drag performer, in the live-action show, differing from the source material and cartoon version.

Escola is joined by a number of recently announced actors tasked with bringing the organization to reality, including head the main antagonist, brought to life by Joe Manganiello, a talented actress as another operative, and Sendhil Ramamurthy, who also joins the lineup as King Nefertari Cobra of Alabasta.

Even though Bon Clay is a key figure of Baroque Works, the character won’t make their debut One Piece the third season. With season 2 expected to adapt the Little Garden arc, this signals a major departure in the schedule of Bon Clay’s introduction, one that could suggest more adjustments to the story’s structure.

Their mix of precise humor and deep sensitivity makes them a ideal selection for the character. Along with their current animated role in the animated coming-of-age film Boys Go to Jupiter, they earned widespread acclaim and numerous honors for penning and acting in the successful stage production Oh Mary!, emphasizing the range they’ll bring to one of One Piece’s widely praised roles.
