Iran Reports Attack on US Base in Bahrain, As Part of Widespread Military Operations.

Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Manama, as Iran launched strikes across the region in retaliation for a large-scale and continuing attack targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone near the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The extent of any destruction is uncertain and the US has not commented.

Missile Defenses Activated

In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - each hosting US military bases - stated they have intercepted missiles in their territorial skies.

In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence said it had intercepted a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the region.

IRGC Statement

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was targeting US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the attack on the Islamic Republic launched by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.

That initial attack - initiated at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on sites linked to the Iranian leadership, with US President Donald Trump encouraging the Iranian people to revolt against the government.

Regional Fallout

In the State of Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israeli military reported it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates stated that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses responded to the projectiles with high efficiency and successfully intercepted a series of missiles," it added.

It said debris landed in a neighborhood in Abu Dhabi, causing some structural damage and fatalities.

The US Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
