Ex- Doctor Charged with Sexual Assault Allegations Involving 38 Individuals in His Care
Legal authorities have announced that a former doctor has been charged with committing assaults against thirty-eight victims who were patients.
The Serious Allegations
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with dozens of acts of sexual assault – including acts against children younger than 13 – between 2017 and 2021.
One senior prosecutor said, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to assist a thorough and intricate police inquiry, carefully reviewing the evidence to establish that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
Scope of the Investigation
These allegations follow what police described as a “detailed inquiry” into alleged assaults at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and a facility in Dudley.
The defendant is scheduled to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.
List of Charges
The charging documents said the 45 charges include:
- 15 counts of assault.
- 17 counts of penetrative assault.
- 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.
Police have asked anyone with concerns to get in touch with the relevant police force.
