Before making landfall in Vietnam, Kalmaegi left a trail of devastation in the Philippines - including a minimum of 114 fatalities.
Philippines President Ferdinand Marcos Jr has declared a state of emergency - defined by circumstances including significant loss of life, major damage to property, and interruption of income sources and the normal way of life for residents of impacted regions.
The typhoon, called in the region Tino, tore through the heavily populated island of Cebu, submerging entire towns and washing automobiles along avenues.
Numerous individuals of people have been evacuated, with many taking refuge in temporary accommodations.

Disaster personnel have started operations while evacuated residents seek shelter in designated safe areas.
The magnitude of this disaster has prompted extensive disaster relief across the impacted areas.
