Christantus Uche Ignites Straightforward Palace Triumph at Irish Side Shelbourne.

Even though embarking on their maiden European campaign, Oliver Glasner's side are learning very quickly. Without key figures like forward Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the London club departed Dublin with a commanding win that all but secures them a place in the Europa Conference League playoffs.

A further three points in their next fixture against Finnish KuPS should be sufficient to secure direct passage to the last 16, especially following a prior stumble against Strasbourg.

Fringe Players Seize the Opportunity

This match provided a chance for some of Palace's lesser-used players to shine. Christantus Uche, making only his second beginning since joining on loan from Getafe, notched the scoring with a clinical goal. Striker Eddie Nketiah added a another, finding the net for the second consecutive succession.

The Shelbourne side that had concluded their domestic season were no match even for a largely second-string Palace lineup. The Londoners were further depleted by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are sidelined with knee injuries.

Dominance Asserted from the Outset

Despite heavy rain in Dublin, Palace rapidly took control. A flowing move in the 11th minute, initiated by Daichi Kamada's clever pass, let Nketiah to lay on Uche for a simple tap-in.

Youngster Adam Wharton came close minutes later, fizzing a powerful effort over the bar. Nketiah subsequently claimed for a penalty after racing into the box, but the official dismissed the protests.

Ex-Arsenal striker did not have wait long to find his goal, prodding home from a yard out after Uche's shot had struck the post.

The home side were hanging on desperately. Full-back Kameron Ledwidge was fortunate to avoid a booking for two robust challenges on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards struck the woodwork with a header from a corner.

Yeremy Pino Seals the Game

The contest was effectively over eight minutes before half-time. Yeremy Pino weaved past some comically weak challenges before calmly dispatching a shot past keeper Wessel Speel to extend the lead to 3-0.

Following the break, manager Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to rest key individuals like Kamada and Wharton. Substitute Romain Esse came close to scoring with his first touch, only to see his effort blocked.

Esse was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one shot strike off each posts before being clasped on the line. Uche also missed a sitter of a chance, indicating there is still scope for improvement in his game.

The only concern for Palace was a second-half knock to Justin Devenny, who was forced off. This allowed 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to earn his senior debut, capping an otherwise positive night for the traveling side.
